Dear Colleagues,

One of the challenges we face as ethics and compliance professionals is translating what we learn into what we do.

We can spend a great deal of time discussing emerging risks, regulatory expectations, new technologies, and evolving business models. The real value comes when those conversations help us think differently about our own programs—and give us ideas we can put into practice when we return to work.

That's one of the things I value most about the Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Ethics & Compliance Congress, being held October 13-16 in Washington, DC.

The Congress creates an environment where compliance professionals can move beyond theory and learn how others are addressing many of the same challenges we face every day. Through case studies, interactive discussions, benchmarking, and candid conversations with peers, attendees have an opportunity to hear not only about leading practices, but also the lessons learned along the way.

That exchange is particularly valuable because there is rarely a single answer to the challenges we face. What works for one organization may need to be adapted for another. Hearing different approaches—from both the pharmaceutical and medical device communities—can challenge our thinking and help us identify practical solutions that make sense for our own organizations.

The program is shaped by compliance professionals who understand these real-world challenges. Combined with perspectives from government officials, legal experts, and other thought leaders, the Congress provides an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day demands of our roles, learn from one another, and return to our organizations with new ideas and perspectives.

For 27 years, that commitment to practical education and open dialogue has been a defining feature of the Congress. In a profession that continues to change so quickly, having a trusted forum where we can share experiences and learn from one another is more valuable than ever.
