PHILADELPHIA, PA USA -- DISEASE MANAGEMENT UPDATE NEWS SERVICE™ -- APRIL 25, 2007: The Disease Management Colloquium, www.DMConferences.com, May 7 - 9, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia, PA announced today it will feature two preconference sessions. The Colloquium is sponsored by the Department of Health Policy at Jefferson Medical School.

SPECIAL PRECONFERENCE SESSIONS
Preconference I: Preconference/Certification Exam I: Critical Analysis of Disease Management and Wellness Outcomes Reports

Session/Exam Overview: Roughly 80% of all outcomes reports for disease management and wellness contain flaws serious enough to invalidate the entire outcome. Identifying these flaws doesn't require advanced biostatistics or actuarial knowledge, but rather just learning how to read these like an informed buyer. The first half of the session will be devoted to going through examples, where attendees will have the opportunity to spot the flaws. The second half will be an optional test, where each attendee can go through a sample report on his/her own, to identify the flaws. Attendees who find more than 70% of the findable flaws will receive Critical Outcomes Report Analysis certification from DMPC. Attendees who don't wish to take the test may opt instead to join the second half of Preconference Symposium #2.

Preconference II: Reaction to the DMAA Outcomes Guidelines Report and other ROI Insights: A "Buy-side" Perspective

Session Overview: In December 2006 the DMAA released its widely anticipated Outcomes Guidelines Report. In this symposium the field's leading biostatistician and actuary (as measured by number of peer-reviewed articles published and number of awards won), and leading procurement consultant (as measured by number of disease management programs procured) offer their perspectives on what went right, what went wrong, what needs to be done, and how to apply them to a buyer's contracting and measurement efforts.
